Tour Description

Feel the Sacred Heart of the Empire Beating!

The Capitoline Hill is the sacred heart of the Roman empire. From the top of this hill, the temple of Jupiter overlooked the Roman Forum and expanded its aura over the territories that the Romans ruled.

This is the hill that the victorious generals climbed at the end of their amazing triumphs, during which the army marched through the city celebrating the most important conquests.

On top of this hill you can now see the Capitoline Museum, the most ancient and one of the most important museums in the world. It is hosted in three buildings, which are masterpieces of Renaissance architecture, designed by the greatest Italian artist: Michelangelo, who also designed the famous square.

The museum is full of astonishing Roman artworks, such as the colossal statues of Constantine, the first Christian Roman emperor; the statue of the she-wolf that fed Romulus and Remus; the equestrian bronze statue of Marcus Aurelius. It’s the best place to learn about the Romans, and be amazed by their greatness.

Nowhere else history, art, archaeology, architecture, and legend merge in such a unique way.

Come explore the top of the Roman empire with us (coffee break with a breath-taking view is included).

“Roads to Rome is the best tour in Rome! Giovanni, the tour guide, is extremely personable and informative! The detail he gave my boyfriend and I, made the touring so much more exciting! He gave us knowledge that is not written in most history books as he took us behind the scenes to each of our destinations. Giovanni made our trip to Rome and we would recommend him to anyone interested in a great experience to learn incredible amounts in Rome.”
