Tour Description

(Trevi, Pantheon, Navona) Mangia, Bevi, Cammina!

Exclusive Private Food Tour – City Center Walk

Our food tour has been designed to be an exploration of both the city of Rome and its wonderful tastes.

We believe that seeing and hearing Rome is not enough: you also have to bite it. For this reason, during our food tour we’ll do all those things: see the most famous sights in the city center (Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Piazza Navona) and, while wandering from one beautiful piazza to another, try some of the most typical Roman dishes combined with great wines.

This tour is a walking exploration of the Italian cuisine, art and history: we’ll try some of the most famous street food meals to experience the Italian daily life and we’ll have some classy dishes and drinks in exclusive locations.

We’ll start our tour from the Trevi fountain area, and we’ll visit an authentic Italian salumeria (deli) owned by the same family for three generations. Here you will be able to try some of the most traditional kinds of cured meat and cheese while enjoying a glass of Chianti. Then, we’ll walk to the Trevi fountain, where your guide will explain everything about the most famous fountain in the world. Make sure you have some coins with you!

Next stop will be the Pantheon, probably the most important building in Rome and the greatest masterpiece of Roman architecture.

From the Pantheon area, we’ll move to the Hotel Minerva, and we’ll be happy to offer you a real Italian aperitivo (Spritz). You’ll drink a delicious cocktail  and eat some snacks while looking at the sunset from the  rooftop of the Hotel Minerva, that offers the best view of Rome in the area.

You can’t leave Rome without trying a Roman deep-fried riceball: supplì! A hot, delicious treat on your way to Piazza Navona,  maybe the most beautiful square in Rome, built on an ancient Roman stadium and decorated by Bernini, Borromini and other great masters of the Sixteen-hundreds. After a two-minutes walk we will reach the last stop of our tour: a restaurant where we will finally have pasta (we’ll try two different recipes of the Roman tradition) and another glass of wine.

At this point probably you will be pretty full; but there’s always more room for gelato, that we will offer you at a great gelateria in the area.

Testimonials

“My friend and I were in Rome for one week mid November and we were referred to Giovanni and Roads to Rome (through another friend) and booked several private tours. In my opinion, there is no other way I would have been able to see so much and learn so much without him. It was like taking a walking history class—except this time i wanted to be there. Giovanni is so knowledgeable and passionate about the subjects, an absolute pleasure to work with. Plus, we skipped lines, had all our questions answered, and didn’t have to deal w maps or trying to find all these places on our own.”
